Online Wedding Process Explained

COMMON QUESTIONS

Is getting Married Online Legal?

Virtual Weddings are Legal! As of 2020, getting married online is 100% legal in the U.S. through Utah. Now, people around the world can get married completely online. There’s no need to put ink to paper or step foot in the courthouse to get a legal, US marriage certificate, nor do you need to be a resident of Utah!

Do my partner and I need to be in the same place?

Nope! We’ve successfully and legally married hundreds of couples where one partner is in one country and the other is thousands of miles away! Video weddings must permit the Officiant, Participants, and Witnesses to see and hear each other concurrently in order to be valid; Regardless of their individual location.

Will there be any mention that I got married online?

No, every couple who gets their license receives the same certificate, regardless if they were married online or in the person.

Do other US states recognize the wedding?

Yes. All states recognize a marriage that is legal in one state, regardless of their marriage laws.

Will my Marriage be recognized in countries outside the U.S.?

Yes, legally recognized in 123+ countries with Apostille. Apostille is a special certificate, issued by the Secretary of State or the Office of the Lieutenant Governor, that allows a legal document created in one country to be recognized in another country. An apostille ensures that your marriage certificate is considered legal, verifiably authentic, and acceptable in any of the countries that agreed to be part of The Hague Apostille Convention of 1961. If you want your marriage to be registered and/or recognized in a country outside of the United States, you may need this.
